START/STOP mode off button

The START/STOP mode off button is a small but critical auto part located on the dashboard center console, usually next to the engine start button. It disables the automatic engine stop/start feature, ensuring the engine remains running when you come to a halt – for instance, at traffic lights or during short stops when air conditioning or electronics must stay active. Common failure causes include mechanical wear, wiring shorts, blown fuses, or corroded contacts.
To replace this car part, first disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts. Using a plastic trim tool, carefully pry off the dashboard bezel to access the wiring harness. Unplug the connector, release the button module from its clips or screws, and remove the faulty unit. Fit the new module, ensuring the contacts are clean, then reassemble in reverse order: secure the module, refit the trim, and reconnect the battery. Finally, start the engine and verify that the indicator lights up and the START/STOP system responds correctly.
