The mass air flow (MAF) sensor measures the volume and density of air entering the engine, letting the ECU calculate the correct amount of fuel to inject.

Slides or bolts into the intake tract with a seal, and connects to the engine wiring harness — handle the delicate internal sensor wire carefully during installation.
Frequently asked questions
Contamination on the delicate sensing wire or element gives the ECU an inaccurate air reading, which throws off the fuel calculation and can cause the engine to run richer than needed.
