Turbine – how to choose?

The turbocharger uses exhaust gas energy to force extra air into the engine, increasing power beyond what the engine could produce naturally aspirated.

For a used turbocharger, compare the identification plate, engine code and actuator version. Confirm whether the actuator is supplied and what testing is documented for the unit. An intercooler or boost hose is a different component. Before ordering a replacement turbo, have the workshop identify both the required assembly and any underlying cause of damage.

How to tell if the part is damaged?

Replacement requires disconnecting the oil and coolant lines and the exhaust connections — after installation, always check the system for leaks and prime the oil feed before first start.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Short-term, yes — but with reduced power and a risk of excessive oil consumption. Don’t delay the repair too long: a failed turbo can shed debris into the engine.
