Is it dangerous to drive with a corroded or broken tray?

Yes, a battery that isn’t securely mounted can shift while driving, risking damage to the battery, a short circuit, or even a fire — repair promptly.

Can a corroded tray be repaired instead of replaced?

For light surface corrosion, cleaning and treatment can work, but a structurally weakened or badly corroded tray should be replaced for secure battery mounting.

What is the tray made of?

Acid-resistant plastic or coated steel.

Signs of a faulty part

If you notice any of the following, the part likely needs replacement:

Battery sitting at an angle or loose in its position
Visible corrosion or cracking on the tray
Battery terminals contacting nearby metal from a shifted battery

Installation information

Bolts to the chassis or body — clean any corrosion before fitting a new tray and battery.

Frequently asked questions

Battery acid can leak or evaporate slightly over the battery’s life, and combined with road salt and moisture exposure, this accelerates corrosion of the metal tray beneath it.

No complaints about Evro Trans itself, everything's fine. But the delivery..... It felt like the order was being carried by turtles. 4 days from Riga to Daugavpils. Judging by the tracking, the parcel just sat somewhere behind a shed for 3 days, then they found it and delivered it the next day. I think that's why I won't be ordering there again.

Bought a front fender for my car. I liked it! After payment they sent more than 20 photos of the problem areas, and it was packed very securely - took a while to unwrap.
