What is this part and why does it matter?

The coolant reservoir (expansion or overflow tank) stores excess coolant as it expands with heat and provides a low-pressure point to check coolant level safely.

Signs of a faulty part

If you notice any of the following, the part likely needs replacement:

  • Coolant leak or crack visible on the tank
  • Coolant level dropping consistently despite no visible leak elsewhere
  • Cap not sealing properly

Installation information

Bolts or clips into place, connected with a hose to the radiator or engine — always refill to the correct level marked on the tank.

Frequently asked questions

Most often from age and heat cycling making the plastic brittle, or from the cap seal failing and letting pressure build unevenly.

  • No complaints about Evro Trans itself, everything's fine. But the delivery..... It felt like the order was being carried by turtles. 4 days from Riga to Daugavpils. Judging by the tracking, the parcel just sat somewhere behind a shed for 3 days, then they found it and delivered it the next day. I think that's why I won't be ordering there again.
