What’s the difference between a "short block" and a "long block"?

A short block typically includes the block, crankshaft, pistons, and rods, while a long block also includes the cylinder head(s) and valvetrain — check exactly what’s included before buying.

Do external components transfer from the old engine?

Yes, in most cases the turbo, manifolds, sensors, alternator, and other bolt-on accessories are transferred from the original engine to the replacement.

New, used, or remanufactured — which is the better choice?

It depends on budget and required warranty: remanufactured engines offer a good balance of cost and reliability, used engines are cheapest but carry more risk, and new engines are the most expensive but come with the longest warranty.

Signs of a faulty part

If you notice any of the following, the part likely needs replacement:

Multiple serious internal engine faults (bottom-end knock, cracked block, catastrophic failure)
Engine seized and won’t turn over
Repair cost of individual components exceeds the value of replacing the whole engine

Installation information

A major job requiring removal of the old engine and transfer of external components (turbo, manifolds, sensors, accessories) — best carried out by an experienced engine shop.

Frequently asked questions

When the damage affects core internal components (block, crankshaft) or several systems at once — at that point, a complete engine is often more cost-effective and reliable than a piecemeal repair.

No complaints about Evro Trans itself, everything's fine. But the delivery..... It felt like the order was being carried by turtles. 4 days from Riga to Daugavpils. Judging by the tracking, the parcel just sat somewhere behind a shed for 3 days, then they found it and delivered it the next day. I think that's why I won't be ordering there again.

Bought a front fender for my car. I liked it! After payment they sent more than 20 photos of the problem areas, and it was packed very securely - took a while to unwrap.
