Is it dangerous to drive with a seized carrier?

Yes, this affects braking performance and can cause the vehicle to pull to one side under braking — this should be repaired promptly.

Can the carrier be cleaned and reused instead of replaced?

Yes, often — corrosion on the slider pin bores can sometimes be cleaned and lubricated, but a badly corroded or cracked carrier needs replacement.

Signs of a faulty part

If you notice any of the following, the part likely needs replacement:

Uneven brake pad wear (one pad wearing faster than the other)
Calliper rattling or knocking noise, especially over bumps
Brake pulling to one side

Installation information

Requires the calliper and pads to be removed for access — clean and lubricate the slider pins with the correct brake grease before reassembly.

Frequently asked questions

If the carrier is corroded or its slider pins are seized, the calliper can’t move freely to centre itself over the disc, causing one pad to drag and wear faster than the other.

No complaints about Evro Trans itself, everything's fine. But the delivery..... It felt like the order was being carried by turtles. 4 days from Riga to Daugavpils. Judging by the tracking, the parcel just sat somewhere behind a shed for 3 days, then they found it and delivered it the next day. I think that's why I won't be ordering there again.

Bought a front fender for my car. I liked it! After payment they sent more than 20 photos of the problem areas, and it was packed very securely - took a while to unwrap.
