What is this part and why does it matter?

The front shock absorber (damper) controls the rate at which the front suspension compresses and rebounds, keeping the tyre in contact with the road and providing a controlled ride.

Signs of a faulty part

If you notice any of the following, the part likely needs replacement:

  • Excessive bouncing after hitting a bump
  • Nose-diving heavily under braking
  • Fluid leak visible on the shock body
  • Uneven or cupped tyre wear

Installation information

Requires a spring compressor if replacing as part of a full strut assembly — always torque mounting bolts to the specified value.

Frequently asked questions

Without proper damping, the tyre bounces rather than maintaining consistent contact with the road, which wears the tread unevenly, often in a cupped or scalloped pattern.

  • No complaints about Evro Trans itself, everything's fine. But the delivery..... It felt like the order was being carried by turtles. 4 days from Riga to Daugavpils. Judging by the tracking, the parcel just sat somewhere behind a shed for 3 days, then they found it and delivered it the next day. I think that's why I won't be ordering there again.
