Steering gear – how to choose?

The steering rack (steering gear) converts rotational input from the steering wheel into the side-to-side movement that turns the front wheels.

A steering rack must match the assistance type, mounting points, connections and steering configuration. For a UK application, confirm the correct right-hand-drive specification rather than relying on a model name. Tie rods, track-rod ends or control modules may be excluded. Ask the workshop about condition checks, adaptation and alignment requirements.

How to tell if the part is damaged?

Requires a wheel alignment (tracking) check after replacement — always torque mounting bolts and track rod ends to the specified value.
