Throttle valve – how to choose?

The throttle valve (throttle plate) opens and closes to control how much air enters the engine, directly controlling engine power in response to the accelerator pedal.

For a throttle body, compare bore, mountings, connector and full part number. Resemblance to another unit for the same engine does not confirm its specification. Establish which accessories are supplied and whether adaptation is required. Cleaning the existing component and fitting a replacement are separate decisions that should follow diagnosis.

How to tell if the part is damaged?

Bolts to the intake manifold with a gasket — a throttle relearn procedure is often required after installation on electronically controlled systems.
